Delhi airport terminal 1 closure leads to cancellation of over 20 flights | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: More than 20 flights of IndiGo scheduled to depart from Terminal 1 (T1) of Delhi’s airport were cancelled on Saturday, following the closure of the terminal due to a roof collapse incident. According to sources, 23 IndiGo flights and 2 SpiceJet flights slated for T1 operations were affected by the closure, as reported by PTI.
IndiGo did not immediately comment on the cancellations, but a source from SpiceJet confirmed that all their T1 operations had been shifted to Terminal 3 (T3), and flights operated as scheduled on Saturday.
The suspension of operations at T1 came into effect on Friday after heavy rainfall reportedly caused a portion of the terminal’s roof to collapse. Flights originally designated for T1 have been relocated to Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3) until further notice.
Delhi airport operator DIAL announced the formation of a technical committee to investigate the incident at T1, attributing the primary cause to the sustained heavy rainfall in the area.
